22nd December - Meditation

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:1-7

Reflection - Wrapped up tightly – swaddled. Isn’t it incredible that the cloth wrapped around the Christ Child was designed to restrict, whilst his whole life was about freedom and liberation.

Do we continue to restrict Jesus in our lives? Do we wrap him up with our own ideas and preferences not allowing him the freedom to move and minister through his Spirit?

May we know the presence of God not in a stifling, restrictive way but in way that we may know life in all its fulness.

Prayer - God thank you for the risk you took.
The risk of creating the universe and placing it in human hands, to nourish or to spoil.
And now to visit in human form, to be cradled and swaddled.

What risk,
What Love.
In humble gratitude we come and worship

God forgive me for restricting you in our lives and in our church life. Release and liberate me.

Amen
