From today’s Gospel reading...
‘When they heard these words, some in the crowd said, ‘This is really the prophet.’ Others said, ‘This is the Messiah.’ But some asked, ‘Surely the Messiah does not come from Galilee, does he? Has not the scripture said that the Messiah is descended from David and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?’

To reflect on...
It was hard for those early followers to see and interpret the scriptures in the light of Jesus’ life. We are truly blessed to have centuries of church teaching and understanding to rest upon.
Let’s pray...
God of space and time, you entered our world in a specific historical moment. Give us understanding of your ways, and of your message to us through the scriptures. Amen.
